2010 and A Long Post

It has been awhile since I updated, before the year ends I will update quite  a number of posts regarding some of the things I think about.

Firstly, the creative landscape and the need to be involved in policymaking, politics, social endeavours and economics. Then, updates on my music journey followed by my idea of the creative landscape for Singaporean artists in the next 20-30 years. This will be followed by my personal endeavours in the literary arts.

First off, being part of the CLF FPE (Community Leaders’ Forum, Forward Planning Exercise) since late 2009 has opened up doors once unimagined. The opportunity to share and bring forward ideas on music and education with some of the nation’s leaders, is one opportunity that I’m glad to be presented with. Meeting young leaders from different fields and learning their vision for the generations to come is really an interesting experience. More talk on this in a different post.

My musical journey for 2010 validated me with a completed album that is launched online, titled Warkah Cinta Dunia which can be found on my Bandcamp page, http://aqmaln.bandcamp.com. The album is published by Asas ’50, solely produced by ArtzAcoustics and all songs arranged and composed by me. Another achievement (albeit a bit lower than previous years) is the nomination for 2 categories in AnugeraHitz.sg for Best Lyrics and Best Composition. Also arranging for Shariff Sah’s ‘Masih Keliru’ which made it to the Top 5 in Projek Rentak organized by Mediacorp Ria and Warna. Warkah Cinta Dunia’s single karaoke is also selected and featured in Ria Hitz.sg compilation album, published by Life Records Singapore.

A first time 3-day concert at Esplanade Outdoor Theatre for Danau Beralun @Pesta Raya, having the chance to work with Dzull Rabul, Othman Hamid, Asnida Daud, Qamar Baba and a hosts of musical talents from Singapore, and also the chance to get to know 2 talented musicians from Padang, Indonesia; Mr Peter Selayang and Mr Pelani. ‘Azam Baru’ single in Warkah Cinta Dunia album is planned for a music video production, going to be produced by TriSakti Productions directed by Faizal Husin (a Malaysian director) with a production team consisting of talented individuals, all initiated by Hazman Aziz. To top all public and private performances throughout the year, the best recent news of 2010 is to be invited to perform for WIEF (World Islamic Economic Forum) Marketplace of Creative Arts, showcasing talents from around the world at Asian Civilization Museum in Feb 2010.

All of this experiences have brought me to think more on the creative landscape that I envisioned for the next 20-30 years, more on this in another post.

The chance to meet a talented musician from Singapore, Md Khair Md Yasin, is one experience that I predict, will shape my portfolio in a positive way, possibly bringing it to new heights. My literary endeavours will be presented in another post. Also, one news to share is SPH’s (Singapore Press Holdings) confirmation of my being a part-time writer.

www.twitter.com/Aqmalndotkom has now ceased to exist. My YouTube channel still goes on, my FB profile and fan page is still on. And yes of course, http://aqmaln.com is still available. Hoping that this would be a music and educational portal one day, is still a big dream.. which is of course very possible.
